Modern family garden

The brief was a complete redesign of a walled town garden in Brighton. The garden needed to suit two small boys who wanted to run about... and two adults who wanted to relax and entertain. It had to be low-maintenance for busy people, and visually/ physically connect to the new kitchen extension. The solution was an interlocking design of rendered raised beds (weed-matted and mulched). These chunky walls double as 'party perches'. A patio uses the same stone as the kitchen, and has bespoke storage-seating by Ben Fearnside.  Planting is evergreen and fairly football-proof.

INNOVATION: The bench was built of Millboard composite decking.
